Lightroom is alongside Photoshop the most popular photo editing software. But not everyone is aware of its probably most powerful tool. In the following, I will explain what it is, how to use it and how you can grow your Preset library.
What are Lightroom Presets
Presets are files that allow you to apply a specific setting to one or multiple photos - with just one click. This is, what makes them so powerful and easy to use and why they are loved by, for example, wedding photographers. For them, it is usual to have hundreds of shots to which they have to apply the same settings, what would take hours and days without this feature.
You use Presets by choosing one in the left panel of the Develop Module in Lightroom Classic. In the newest version Lightroom CC, you only have to click onto the "Presets" tab on the bottom right after accessing the Develop Module.
Extend your Preset library
Lightroom already ships with a few Presets. However, if you desire to work truly effectively with them, you will soon realise, that the standard ones aren't enough, especially if you want to apply a very special look to your photos.
That's the reason, why many photographers took time and developed more Presets. Today there is a variety of them for nearly every look you could need.
I also created five Presets, perfect for working with photos of landscapes and food. Feel free to check them out here.
